Fewer false alarms
Every failed check is retried a few seconds later from Cloudflare's network before an incident opens. Only a confirmed failure sends the "DOWN" email; the "UP" email follows on the first successful check and says how long the outage lasted.
What's in an alert
- The monitor name and URL
- The reason: timeout, connection refused, DNS failure, HTTP status code, or keyword missing
- When it started, and for recoveries, the outage duration and response time
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. 10 monitors checked every 5 minutes, email alerts, SSL expiry warnings and a public status page, with no card and no time limit. Pro is $5/month for 50 monitors checked every minute.
What counts as down?
A connection error, a timeout (10 seconds), an HTTP status of 400 or higher, or, for keyword monitors, the keyword missing (or present, if you choose). A failed check is retried a few seconds later before anything is reported, so a single blip doesn't page you.
Where do alerts go?
By email to your account address the moment a monitor goes down, and again when it comes back up with how long it was down. Pro adds up to 10 alert contacts.
